Lisa Goldstein is a distinguished healthcare executive with over 40 years of experience. Recognized as one of Crain’s Most Notable Women in Healthcare in 2018, she currently serves as Executive in Residence for the Cornell University Sloan Program in Health Administration.
Ms. Goldstein’s impressive career includes her role as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, a position she held from March 1997 to December 2020. In this capacity, she was responsible for day-to-day operations, facilities management, and planning, as well as overseeing all construction activities. Under her leadership, HSS experienced significant growth, more than doubling in size in terms of revenue, surgeries, square footage, locations, and employees. Her tenure also saw continuous improvements in patient satisfaction and employee engagement.
One of Ms. Goldstein’s notable achievements was serving as the operations project lead for the first joint venture Ambulatory Surgery Center with 20 HSS surgeons, which opened in 2017 and continues to thrive. Most recently, she led the planning, operations, and construction team for a Main Campus Transformation project, which includes a 12-story, $200 million clinical building over the FDR Drive, scheduled to break ground in 2021.
Before her tenure at HSS, Ms. Goldstein served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Wayne General Hospital (now St. Joseph’s Wayne) in New Jersey from 1986 to 1996, and as Vice President of Operations at Hackensack Medical Center in New Jersey from 1981 to 1986.
Lisa Goldstein holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the Cornell University Business School. Her extensive experience and leadership in healthcare management make her a prominent figure in the industry.
